TunnelBear can reroute your Internet traffic through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), to protect your identity and privacy. It can also protect you from nosy trackers, like ads, analytics, scripts or social buttons. The application can make it look like you are from another country, which gives you the possibility of bypassing country or region-related restrictions. The best part is that everything can be done with only a few clicks.

Before you start using TunnelBear, you will have to create and verify an online account, which should not take more than a minute. The application works in the background and you can access its controls through an icon on the status bar. The controls are displayed on a neatly designed, wood-themed panel and they are very easy to understand.

All you have to do is click an on/off knob and the application will tunnel your connecting right away. Additionally, you can choose to connect to a VPN from a specific country. You can select a country before connecting or while you are connected if you want to switch countries. Once you are connected to a VPN, you may surf the web anonymously. This means that websites or other services won't log your real IP address. As a result, your identity will be safe and because you will be seen from another country, certain restrictions to your own country won't apply to you.

As previously mentioned, TunnelBear offers protection against ads, social buttons and various scripts that track your online activity. The user interface can be expanded to reveal an option for turning on this feature, as well as a few statistics, about blocked items.

Pros

TunnelBear can redirect your Internet traffic through VPNs from various countries. It can also protect you from various online trackers. The application's controls are simple and very easy to understand.

Cons

In rare cases, the application may not connect you to the country of your choice. TunnelBear offers nothing less than complete freedom and privacy when it comes to browsing the web.
